Creative Writing Ideas: Book Review
Creative Writing Ideas: The 4-Hour Workweek
The 4-Hour Workweek, by Tim Ferris is one of my favorite books. I read it this January and 3 days ago I found out that there was an unpdated version, which I now have and started reading.
Timothy Ferris is not only an intrepreneur, a blogger, a world traveler, but he's a lifestyle designer, which is what I aspire to be.

Creative Writing Ideas: Developing Your Character Further
Creative Writing Ideas: Day 5 of the Daily Writing Challenge
Holla! Some of you may be thinking that I misspelled, "Hola", the Spanish equivalent of the English, "Hello". But I did not, I wrote - Holla, as in the lyrics from one of Missy Elliot's songs, "Hollllllllaaaaa, ain't no stopin' me. Copy written, so don't copy me." You know you love my vernacular. ;)
Back to Creative Writing, the narrative prompt for Day 5 is up and running, it's running like crazy and preparing for a marathon, a writing marathon, a daily writing marathon - and you're going to join. :)
Yesterday we explored character creation in the simplest form: name, age, height, eye color, etc. Today we are exploring our character's external world, their family situation. Do they have any siblings, what is their relationship like with their father? Is the mother alive? If so, what is her job. Is your character married? What is your character's sex life like? Active? Frustrated? Non-existant? These are some of the questions we're going to explore.
You're going to have 10 minutes, that is right TEN minutes only to complete this writing exercise. The point is for you to write fluidly and thoughtlessly, so you can load yourself up with ammunition to defeat the dreaded Writer's Block when he comes knocking on your imagination.
Visit Creative Writing Ideas to get started and grooving with your character, character development that is. ;)

Creative Writing Ideas: Narrative Prompt for 1/19/11
Creative Writing Ideas: Narrative Prompt for Wednesday!
Good Morning! Today is day 1 of the Daily Writing Challenge (DWC) for Everyone! That means you! :) So let's get writing today, starting with Trippy Alice to help us with some creative writing ideas.
There's our friend Trippy Alice. I always find Alice in Wonderland images inspiring for creativity.
A narrative prompt for today: Create Dialogue.
Set up a 3 person scene, where Alice, the Mad Hatter, and the Cheshire Cat are having a conversation. Maybe there's other characters in here that I can't see that you do; you can add them. Or maybe only Alice can see the Cheshire Cat, which would make it for an interesting "3-way" conversation.
You can simply set it up like this:
Alice: Oh, I fell down this hole and seem to be lost. Who knew trees ate people whole? I hope I'm still alive, and not being digested within a human eating tree.
Cheshire: Hee he ha ha ho. Hello Alice. Maybe I was digested by the human eating tree too. Once I was digested by a cup eating tree. I was offended.
Alice: A cup eating tree? How strange?
MH: Strange! A cup eating tree strange! You must be mad!
...
You can focus on making cutting edge dialogue with some narrative description, or you can use this as an easy free write to get your creative writing juices flowing.
The point of the Daily Writing Challenge is to simple write daily.
If you want to check out the original Daily Writing Challenge post, you can check it out here: Creative Writing Ideas DWC.
Check out the link above later in the day and you'll be able to see the Official Daily Writing Challenge Day 1 post, it involves helping others as part of your writing process. :) I hope you're inspired with a new creative writing idea, and good luck with writing! I'll see you tomorrow. Don't fall too far into the rabbit hole, or do. ;)
